The Tiger is Gone

Dom came down from Seattle to pick up the Tiger. Mike Paul gave him a lift in his GS1200/EZS rig.

They had miserable weather, and it was snowing big wet flakes while they were here. We put a street tread on the front and strapped the spare wheels to the running board. After installing a new windshield on the sidecar Dom was about ready to go. I suggested he take it for a test ride to make sure everything was satisfactory and he was comfortable with the bike before his ride home. Mike asked me to test ride his rig and tell him if I thought it was set up ok, so Dom and I rode off into the snow to check things out. Aside from the wet snow coming down it was a fun ride- the pavement was clear and Mikes bike is very nice. Liberty Sidecar set it up and they did a good job of it. The front end is modified and it is a very easy rig to steer-not too twitchy but very little effort is required to turn. The Tiger has much stiffer steering. We rode up the canyon and back, then down Fir Mountain across Ehrk hill, over Dethman Ridge and back home on the highway. Dom was satisfied with the rig and they headed North to Seattle.

Work on the Sidecars Continues

I have had a couple of set backs and this is taking much longer than I expected. Joel got another job and isn't able to complete fabricating the sidecar mounts for me. He brought all the parts back over to my house and I have been working on getting the subframes together. Today was a pleasant day; the sun was shining and I got up early to start working on the KLR

Fabrication went pretty well, but this took all day long. If I had the money, I would gladly pay for a subframe designed and built for this bike! The amount of time and effort it takes to hand form and fit mounts to a bike is remarkable. I was cutting tabs and bending pipe all day long

I added a gusset to the rear frame of the KLR , where the top strut will mount

By the end of the day I had the subframe tacked together and had started making the mounts on the sidecar chassis. I Just tacked everything together-I need to have someone with better welding skills than I have finish putting this together...
