E.S.C. Maryhill Campout

June17~19, 2005

What do motorcycle instructors do in their spare time?

They go riding!

Evergreen Safety Council had a campout for their instructors at Maryhill Campground last June. The festivities included riding the Maryhill Loops. The Loops, built by the eccentric millionaire Sam Hill, was the first paved road in Washington State. This treacherous stretch of pavement was closed to the public when Highway 97 was completed and a safer grade was built to bring traffic from the Biggs Junction bridge up the hill to Goldendale. We had the key to the gate and could rail our bikes through the corners secure in the knowledge there was no other traffic to worry about-heaven on wheels!

We camped out at Maryhill State park, near the bridge across the Columbia River to Biggs Junction

The instructors rode in on a fine collection of iron
