The Rev and I
My youngest brother, Andy (The Rev)Wade, is the webmaster here. He did a great job setting up this site- I would not have known how to start without him. Andy and his family are missionaries in Hong Kong. We miss them when they are out of the country and enjoy sharing time with them when they come back for visits.
These photos were taken in June of '99. We had a late winter up in the mountains and most of the Gifford Pinchot was still under snow. Andy and I spent the afternoon riding around the woods in my old Bneepr rig (a Dnepr sidecar outfit with a BMW R100 engine shoveled into it).
We stopped at Stabler on the way out for last minute supplies
We had a nice
view of Mt.St.Helens from Outlaw Ridge. This road has since been closed off.
Mt.Adams also made
an appearance

Twin
Falls was at flood stage with the heavy snow melt
The roads were in
poor shape, with landslides and snow encroaching on the roadways. It was a
beautiful drive, but we had to be careful. There were no other people out there
but lots of wildlife. Deer kept running back and forth across in front of us as
we wandered through the forest.

My brother was a
professional photographer in a past life. I don't know why he couldn't get a
better picture of the deer. One practically landed in his lap during the ride.
We were trying to make our way back south on a little one lane track. As we rounded a cut bank a deer atop the bank decided just a fraction of a second too late not to cross the road. He turned around mid stride and fell down the bank, barely missing Andy. The deer regained his footing and bounded off unhurt.
A little further down
this road we were stopped by snow.

The other route south
was blocked by a landslide, forcing us to retrace our path. This doubled our
distance over the road and we ran out of gas. Refueling from the can, we were
able to continue our journey...
...eventually making our way home, crossing the Columbia River under the watchful gaze of Mt.Hood.
I had a great time spending the afternoon with my little brother and always look forward to the next opportunity to hang with the Rev.
Thanks for all the help with this site, Andy. Let's go riding again, real soon!
