Right as Rain

Oiled

The Adventurer, Vernon Wade

Vernon was born in the Pacific Northwest and still lives in the shadow of Mt. Hood, near the small town where he grew up. Vernon has spent decades wandering the hills, hunting mushrooms, camping and riding motorcycles into the remotest nooks and crannies to be found in the region.

Several months ago, I changed the oil in my Triumph. The pan full of used oil has been sitting on a stump, waiting for me to pour it into a jug to take to the Recycle Center. It was past time for me to deal with that, but before I did, I got out my axes and shovels, the draw knives and the mauls, and painted them with the used motor oil. With my blades prepped for the rainy season, I cleaned up my mess, put the oil in a jug and wiped out the pan. Mark that off my list.
