Throwback Thursday-New Years Day 2015

Lost Lake Road

The Adventurer, Vernon Wade

Vernon was born in the Pacific Northwest and still lives in the shadow of Mt. Hood, near the small town where he grew up. Vernon has spent decades wandering the hills, hunting mushrooms, camping and riding motorcycles into the remotest nooks and crannies to be found in the region.

Several years ago Andy and I went for a little New Years Day ride up Lost Lake Road to Lolo Pass.

Turning off FS 18, we followed a spur road which ran a short way along the West Fork of the Hood River, before ending in a clearing above a stream flowing into the river.
Gathering some branches, we kindled a fire to stave off the cold.
We picnicked on beans and corn bread, washed down with hot cocoa spiked with rum.
