The world fills him with wonder. When he looks at the sky he is lifted into flights of fancy, when he stares at the earth he is drawn beneath its surface. He is delighted to find the macrocosm and the microcosm equally mesmerizing.

It is quiet now. Earlier, the crews were banging ladders in the orchards and Walter was leading the neighborhood dogs in voicing their disapproval.
A bird is chirping in the oaks. I sit in my warm, dilute solution of bleach, sipping dark, cardamom tea. Good morning.
