Cloudy, dark, wet. There is a light breeze, cool but not uncomfortable.

The predicted rains were slow coming. It was sprinkling when I came out, progressing to light rain, then becoming a steady downpour. Then it stopped, like someone shutting a worn out faucet, dripping,  but not flowing.

Stars shone through breaks in the clouds even as the rain was pounding down.

In the kitchen the dehydrator hums, filling the room with the rich, earthy smell of drying boletes.

I soak in the dark,  sipping black tea and listening to the rain tapping the oak leaves and rattling through the downspout.
