The first day of October dawns with a whisper of a breeze.
A thin net of white clouds cannot conceal the placid blue sky overhead.
Smoke drifts from the top of the lodge.
The foliage has begun to turn. Patches of yellow dapple the maples, willow, and birch. Here and there clusters of tan appear across the dark green oaks. Fallen leaves are scattered across the ground.
The gentle murmurs and chirps of birds surround me.
Good morning.
