Good Morning

The Writer, Vernon Wade

Vernon Wade is a poet, author and freelancer. He has been published in The Gorge Literary Journal, Dualsport Rider Magazine, Hack’d Magazine, The Sidecarist, ROB Magazine and The Hood River News.

The world fills him with wonder.  When he looks at the sky he is lifted into flights of fancy, when he stares at the earth he is drawn beneath its surface. He is delighted to find the macrocosm and the microcosm equally mesmerizing.

Cloudy with rain forecast in the afternoon.

My arms no longer hurt from the vaccinations I got Monday. That took a little longer than I expected,  but not too bad. Flu, covid, and pneumonia. Still need the second shingles shot. Getting that after the next camp out.

I put Walter in because the neighborhood dogs are having a vigorous discussion and he gets too wound up.

There is the slightest of breezes. No birdsong. Aside from the dogs and the rooster and the occasional car it is a quiet morning.

Walter and I went for a walk. They have been putting the ditch in a pipe. Still working on it but they have it buried across  Swyers Drive now.

I suppose it’s  progress but I hate to see it gone.

Since I was a kid, I have enjoyed the cool tranquility of summer walks along the irrigation ditches.

I always meant to canoe this one. Now that will never happen.
