The world fills him with wonder. When he looks at the sky he is lifted into flights of fancy, when he stares at the earth he is drawn beneath its surface. He is delighted to find the macrocosm and the microcosm equally mesmerizing.

It wasn’t raining when I took the garbage to the curb, but it is working up to it.
First, the rare, then occasional drop of cold wet on my face.
Then widely scattered droplets, more often now, but still unpredictable.
Soon the regular tapping of rain, my face wet, the deck glistening.
