The Writer, Vernon Wade

Vernon Wade is a poet, author and freelancer. He has been published in The Gorge Literary Journal, Dualsport Rider Magazine, Hack’d Magazine, The Sidecarist, ROB Magazine and The Hood River News.

The world fills him with wonder. When he looks at the sky he is lifted into flights of fancy, when he stares at the earth he is drawn beneath its surface. He is delighted to find the macrocosm and the microcosm equally mesmerizing.

Amy and I are spending Christmas in California. We drove to Portland and caught a plane to San Jose, where we got a rental car and drove over to San Carlos/Redwood City. Lynne, Camille and Allie were minding the store at Joey Rae. There was a preemptive power outage at Lynne’s house. The power company replaced a decayed pole in anticipation of forecast gale force winds over Christmas. The power was back on by about 6:00.

Lynne is forcing sobriety on Pee Wee for health reasons. An unanticipated consequence is they are plying me with his top shelf whiskey to deplete his temptations. Merry Christmas.
