The world fills him with wonder. When he looks at the sky he is lifted into flights of fancy, when he stares at the earth he is drawn beneath its surface. He is delighted to find the macrocosm and the microcosm equally mesmerizing.

Birds twitter. A few stars twinkle, fading as the morning glow begins.
The neighbor’s dog is yapping, setting Walter off.
He reluctantly heeds my call and trots sullenly back to the deck, flopping down in a pout.
When the commotion resumes for a second round, the ducks are not amused. Grumpily, they voice their disapproval.
