Vernon Wade is a poet, author and freelancer. He has been published in The Gorge Literary Journal, Dualsport Rider Magazine, Hack’d Magazine, The Sidecarist, ROB Magazine and The Hood River News.
The world fills him with wonder. When he looks at the sky he is lifted into flights of fancy, when he stares at the earth he is drawn beneath its surface. He is delighted to find the macrocosm and the microcosm equally mesmerizing.
7/7/25 6:30 59f (15c) Another blue sky morning with no wind. A woodpecker hammers out his song of love on an aluminum ladder. A hawk, perhaps frustrated by an unsuccessful hunt, screeches as he flys low across the blackberry brambles.
I pulled the air-conditioner out yesterday. Tomorrow True Gorge is sending a crew up to install a mini-split, exchanging our savings for comfort and hopefully, economy.
Think I might take the kayak to Goose Lake today.
