Wide awake
Staring into the vastness
The firmament filled with flickering lights
Clouds roll in from the west
Extinguishing the stars
Each in turn
Like the candles on the alter
At the close of service
I am left
Alone in the dark
Waiting for the sun

The world fills him with wonder. When he looks at the sky he is lifted into flights of fancy, when he stares at the earth he is drawn beneath its surface. He is delighted to find the macrocosm and the microcosm equally mesmerizing.
