The Adventurer, Vernon Wade

Vernon was born in the Pacific Northwest and still lives in the shadow of Mt. Hood, near the small town where he grew up. Vernon has spent decades wandering the hills, hunting mushrooms, camping and riding motorcycles into the remotest nooks and crannies to be found in the region.

Walter and I took a walk down Thomsen Road this morning. I was hoping to get out while it was still cool enough to enjoy, but I almost waited too long. It was  close to 85f when we got back.

After lunch we hopped on the Triumph and ran into town to take care of some errands.

Mike came over in the afternoon. We loaded the kayaks on my truck for a quick run up to Kingsley Reservoir. It was pretty gusty up there so we didn’t unload the boats. Instead, we took a short walk through the new campground (opening in July!), then set some chairs up by the lake. Mike and I sat and enjoyed a beer, watching the clouds change shape over Greenpoint and let the breeze across the lake cool us off.
