11/1/26 6:40 (if you remembered to set your clocks back)
Goblins and shades danced through the trees all night, but the jack o’lanterns warded them from our camp.
It is perhaps a little warmer than yesterday morning, or maybe I should say, a little less cold. It’s still quite nippy.
My bowels have adapted to the winter clock. I was able to put my morning dash off until what would have been seven o’clock. Nearly light out!
The ravens are very talkative in the gray light of dawn.
Amy has managed to go back to sleep even as I rattle about making tea.
Andy visited yesterday and brought us some dry wood. Jason cut a half dozen rounds from a downed hemlock which we split.
With such abundance we are able to be quite extravagant. We sat around the outside fire until 10:30 with fires in both lodges. It looks like Jason’s fire finally went out, but we kept ours blazing all night and large enough to keep us warm.
Walter is not fond of fire and chose to sleep under a tree last night.
The sun rose into a clear blue sky without a hint of rain. The nicest day we’ve had.
We skipped breakfast and began striking camp.
Good morning.
