Good Afternoon

The Adventurer, Vernon Wade

Vernon was born in the Pacific Northwest and still lives in the shadow of Mt. Hood, near the small town where he grew up. Vernon has spent decades wandering the hills, hunting mushrooms, camping and riding motorcycles into the remotest nooks and crannies to be found in the region.

Walter, Mike and I went looking for the snow level today. We found some snow here and there around 1400′. By 1700′ there was a solid 6″  under the trees and covering the road.

.Around 1:00 we pulled off on the spur to Chanty Camp. Rather than risk getting stuck, we decided to park by the road and sledge in.

Walter hauled our sled to a clearing where someone had left a pile of wood. Once we set up and got a fire going, we boiled water for tea and put some chanterelle/chicken soup on.

While lunch was heating Mike and I made a snowman. We were going to do some plinking but the sun was getting low and we had food to eat, so we never got the guns out.

After eating we packed up the sled and headed to the truck. We got home just before sundown.
