Good Afternoon

The Adventurer, Vernon Wade

Vernon was born in the Pacific Northwest and still lives in the shadow of Mt. Hood, near the small town where he grew up. Vernon has spent decades wandering the hills, hunting mushrooms, camping and riding motorcycles into the remotest nooks and crannies to be found in the region.

4/21/26 65F Calm, overcast and humid.

It sprinkled a little this morning,  but not enough to prevent me from mowing.

After lunch I returned the keg.

Since I was in the neighborhood, I dropped by the range to burn up some black powder.

While there, some hungry deer visited.  Niether shouts nor gunfire perturbed them in the least.

Apparently,  having observed my marksmanship, they determined the risk was negligible. They continued to graze at the edge of the range, not even looking up when I  fired.

Mike showed up with Sela and Tristan as I was packing up. Tristan was cracking off rounds from a Springfield when I left. The deer were still there.

We had nieces in town, so I joined them  for dinner at Dave and Jody’s. I left while it was still light, getting home before the rain recommenced.

It was a good day.
