Good Afternoon

The Writer, Vernon Wade

Vernon Wade is a poet, author and freelancer. He has been published in The Gorge Literary Journal, Dualsport Rider Magazine, Hack’d Magazine, The Sidecarist, ROB Magazine and The Hood River News.

The world fills him with wonder.  When he looks at the sky he is lifted into flights of fancy, when he stares at the earth he is drawn beneath its surface. He is delighted to find the macrocosm and the microcosm equally mesmerizing.

Thursday 7/9/26 We probably had a high near 90f (32C), mostly clear with a light breeze. The air is perfumed with the scent of hot pine pitch.

I am camping on a ridgetop near Nan’s Rock, above Scott’s house. Robert, Walter and I got here yesterday around 6. Walter and the horses had to come to an understanding but they got that sorted early, with a minimum of noise and no bloodshed.

We spent a beautiful night in Scott’s tipi, slept well and had breakfast for lunch.

I lost my phone lat night and found it under a cooler near the kitchen late this morning so no photos until later today.

We threw knives and shot guns, but mostly I’ve spent the day sitting around with a couple of guys I have known forever, who talk just like me, exchanging lies and exaggerations.
