Vernon was born in the Pacific Northwest and still lives in the shadow of Mt. Hood, near the small town where he grew up. Vernon has spent decades wandering the hills, hunting mushrooms, camping and riding motorcycles into the remotest nooks and crannies to be found in the region.
Amy’s Uncle Joe and Aunt Judy are visiting from back east.
I collected their autographs, then we spent the rest of the day wandering downtown Hood River.
I seldom tourist in my own home town. There are some talented artists in the gorge, and a number of galleries in Hood River showcasing their work. I recommend them.
It was an enjoyable day, spent in good company.
