The world fills him with wonder. When he looks at the sky he is lifted into flights of fancy, when he stares at the earth he is drawn beneath its surface. He is delighted to find the macrocosm and the microcosm equally mesmerizing.

A squirrel and a jay had a brief but vociferous argument in the maple.
Walter is having a desultory discussion with the neighbor’s dogs, which though muted, has been going on far too long.
I sip my tea and listen to a woodpecker tapping.
