The world fills him with wonder. When he looks at the sky he is lifted into flights of fancy, when he stares at the earth he is drawn beneath its surface. He is delighted to find the macrocosm and the microcosm equally mesmerizing.

New moon. Cloudy with a light breeze. Very dark this morning.
The all cricket chorus is in full song, belting out their greatest hits.
Walter has joined a spirited conversation with the dogs down the street. I tell him to scroll on past, but he’s caught up in it now and can’t let it go.
“It’s not just a difference of opinion,” he tells me, “it is a matter of basic morality. ”
Oh, well. Who am I to argue that?
