The Writer, Vernon Wade

Vernon Wade is a poet, author and freelancer. He has been published in The Gorge Literary Journal, Dualsport Rider Magazine, Hack’d Magazine, The Sidecarist, ROB Magazine and The Hood River News.

The world fills him with wonder. When he looks at the sky he is lifted into flights of fancy, when he stares at the earth he is drawn beneath its surface. He is delighted to find the macrocosm and the microcosm equally mesmerizing.

6/1/25 6:15 50f (10c) We slept in the tipi last night. In the backyard, like kids having a sleepover. The oak trees were creaking in the wind when we went to bed. It was 58f (14.4c). Now it is clear and calm and only slightly cooler.

LIke a kid at a sleepover, Amy got up and went in the house at 4:00.It was getting light and the birds were singing loudly. The fancy daylight alarm clock I got her is set to “birdsong” and sounds exactly the same, so she went in the house to escape the noise and get some more sleep.
