Good Morning

The Writer, Vernon Wade

Vernon Wade is a poet, author and freelancer. He has been published in The Gorge Literary Journal, Dualsport Rider Magazine, Hack’d Magazine, The Sidecarist, ROB Magazine and The Hood River News.

The world fills him with wonder.  When he looks at the sky he is lifted into flights of fancy, when he stares at the earth he is drawn beneath its surface. He is delighted to find the macrocosm and the microcosm equally mesmerizing.

11/28/25 8:30 41F (5C) Broad daylight.  I slept in.

It is a calm morning,  with birds chittering, foggy around the edges.

A light mist is falling from the gray clouds overhead.

Yesterday the family was over, about thirty people, including seven kids. The house was filled with noise and laughter.

This morning is slow and quiet.  Amy is inside on the couch working on puzzles. Confetti is strewn across the floor and dishes piled in the sink.

I am soaking in the hot tub drinking my tea.

Behind me, steam curls from the wet canvas tipi. The morning fire crackles pops inside the lodge.

Good morning.
