Good Morning

The Writer, Vernon Wade

Vernon Wade is a poet, author and freelancer. He has been published in The Gorge Literary Journal, Dualsport Rider Magazine, Hack’d Magazine, The Sidecarist, ROB Magazine and The Hood River News.

The world fills him with wonder.  When he looks at the sky he is lifted into flights of fancy, when he stares at the earth he is drawn beneath its surface. He is delighted to find the macrocosm and the microcosm equally mesmerizing.

11/30/25 5:30 34F (1.1C) Cloudy, dark, still.

It rained a little last night, but seems to have dried out.

A car drives by. I see a couple of stars poke through the clouds low in the west. To the east, a neighbor’s paranoid light rends the cloak of night with its white glare.

The fire was cold this morning.  I thought I got it going, but there wasn’t much small stuff; it had gone dark by the time I got in the tub.

Walter was barking at something so he’s back in the house. The rooster has quit railing against the dark and all is quiet now.
