Good Morning

The Writer, Vernon Wade

Vernon Wade is a poet, author and freelancer. He has been published in The Gorge Literary Journal, Dualsport Rider Magazine, Hack’d Magazine, The Sidecarist, ROB Magazine and The Hood River News.

The world fills him with wonder.  When he looks at the sky he is lifted into flights of fancy, when he stares at the earth he is drawn beneath its surface. He is delighted to find the macrocosm and the microcosm equally mesmerizing.

12/16/25 5:45 50F (10C) Dark and rainy, with the wind dropping off.

A hard rain is pelting down, rattling in the drain pipe, splashing through the muddy turf.

In between the fog and clouds rests a thin band of not quite light, a slightly brighter shade of gray  illuminating the horizon.

It is so wet that Walter asked to come right back in.

I gulp my tea but the downpour keeps my mug full.

Low in the south,  the waning moon winks farewell through a break in the clouds.

Good morning.
