The world fills him with wonder. When he looks at the sky he is lifted into flights of fancy, when he stares at the earth he is drawn beneath its surface. He is delighted to find the macrocosm and the microcosm equally mesmerizing.

The sun is still behind Fir Mountain.
I am surrounded by a ring of low lying clouds with blue sky overhead. There is no wind.
Birds are twittering. A jay squawks as it flies by.
A squirrel is running around the oak, still finding acorns to scavenge.
I slept in this morning. We got in late last night, just as the waxing crescent moon was slipping behind the clouds over the west ridge.
