Good Morning

The Writer, Vernon Wade

Vernon Wade is a poet, author and freelancer. He has been published in The Gorge Literary Journal, Dualsport Rider Magazine, Hack’d Magazine, The Sidecarist, ROB Magazine and The Hood River News.

The world fills him with wonder.  When he looks at the sky he is lifted into flights of fancy, when he stares at the earth he is drawn beneath its surface. He is delighted to find the macrocosm and the microcosm equally mesmerizing.

2/28/26 5:45 29F (- 1.6C) Cold, mostly  clear with a slight breeze.

It is quiet and dark. The light breeze has not moved the strand of clouds hanging over the trees to the southwest.

Overhead it is clear and dark. The moon, waxing gibbous, set hours ago, leaving the rich, blue sky filled with sparkling stars.

As the morning sky begins to lighten, birds start to sing.

A flight of ducks rises from the weeds; six, no seven, there’s  a straggler. Flying low, they circle to the east and dissappear,  heading north along the creek.

The rooster  crows.  Walter barks.

Good  morning.
