The world fills him with wonder. When he looks at the sky he is lifted into flights of fancy, when he stares at the earth he is drawn beneath its surface. He is delighted to find the macrocosm and the microcosm equally mesmerizing.

The sun tops Snakehead ridge, flaring golden-yellow through a crack in the clouds.
I hear turkeys calling from the tall trees up the canyon.
Birds are singing, the rooster is crowing, and I am yelling at the dog who won’t stop barking at the neighbors.
