Good Morning

The Writer, Vernon Wade

Vernon Wade is a poet, author and freelancer. He has been published in The Gorge Literary Journal, Dualsport Rider Magazine, Hack’d Magazine, The Sidecarist, ROB Magazine and The Hood River News.

The world fills him with wonder.  When he looks at the sky he is lifted into flights of fancy, when he stares at the earth he is drawn beneath its surface. He is delighted to find the macrocosm and the microcosm equally mesmerizing.

3/10/26 6:50 30F (-1C) The sky is clear except for a few straggling strands of clouds who didn’t get the memo.

The light has that peculiar shade of blue that comes early on a crisp winter morning: a deep illumination, not bright, but not dim.

Ducks exchange muttered grumbles as they consider getting up but hit the snooze just one more time.

Birds are singing.

The half moon is visible through the trees, low above the canyon.

Ice coats the deck.

The snow predicted last night did not materialize.

There is no wind.

Good morning.
