The world fills him with wonder. When he looks at the sky he is lifted into flights of fancy, when he stares at the earth he is drawn beneath its surface. He is delighted to find the macrocosm and the microcosm equally mesmerizing.

Ice coats the deck, bumpy and slick.

There is just the slightest of breezes and a thin, high overcast furs the sky.

Birds converse in low voices.

I just plucked a box elder beetle from my hair. The annoying black and red bugs are everywhere. They will congregate in swarms on the south wall of the house when the morning sun begins to warm.
