The world fills him with wonder. When he looks at the sky he is lifted into flights of fancy, when he stares at the earth he is drawn beneath its surface. He is delighted to find the macrocosm and the microcosm equally mesmerizing.

A slight breeze wags the birch catkins and flutters the sodden ribbons at the tips of the lodgepoles.
It is raining hard. I can barely hear the birds singing over the steady tattoo of raindrops.
Perhaps it will bring the mushrooms out.
