The world fills him with wonder. When he looks at the sky he is lifted into flights of fancy, when he stares at the earth he is drawn beneath its surface. He is delighted to find the macrocosm and the microcosm equally mesmerizing.

The sky is a uniform pale gray, like an old cotton sheet or a dress shirt past retirement.
Rain is predicted this evening. From the marks in the dust, it looks like it sprinkled last night.
I put the baby chicks out yesterday. They are in a cage inside the coop. I will leave them there for a week or so, letting them put on a little weight until I can safely integrate them with the flock.
