Good Morning

The Writer, Vernon Wade

Vernon Wade is a poet, author and freelancer. He has been published in The Gorge Literary Journal, Dualsport Rider Magazine, Hack’d Magazine, The Sidecarist, ROB Magazine and The Hood River News.

The world fills him with wonder.  When he looks at the sky he is lifted into flights of fancy, when he stares at the earth he is drawn beneath its surface. He is delighted to find the macrocosm and the microcosm equally mesmerizing.

5/6/26 6:00 51F(10.5C) Clear sky, dry, no wind.

I had poor sleep  last night. First night on a brand new mattress.  Early to bed and out like a light. Marvelous.

Walter got left outside when we went to  bed. Around  2:00 he let us know we had forgotten him.

The waning moon was mid transit and shining brightly when I let him in.

My shoulder hurt and I had trouble getting back to sleep.  When I  did, I slept fitfully with dreams of past failures.

Morning is a welcome respite, listening to the turkeys flirt with each other under clear blue skies.

I watered my gardens. The corn and pumpkin starts are doing well but still look vulnerable.

Now I am soaking in the hot tub.

Later this morning I shall take Walter to town for his summer haircut.

Good morning.
