Vernon Wade is a poet, author and freelancer. He has been published in The Gorge Literary Journal, Dualsport Rider Magazine, Hack’d Magazine, The Sidecarist, ROB Magazine and The Hood River News.

The world fills him with wonder. When he looks at the sky he is lifted into flights of fancy, when he stares at the earth he is drawn beneath its surface. He is delighted to find the macrocosm and the microcosm equally mesmerizing.

Rightous birdsong fills the morning, still cloaked in the dull blue light preceding dawn.

The little black banty didn’t make curfew last night and is wandering the chicken yard complaining loudly.

I couldn’t convince her to go in and don’t want to leave the coop open this early. Hopefully her squawking won’t lure a racoon in before it gets light.

The dawg has notified the front desk he would like an early breakfast. He awaits a response impatiently.
