Good Morning

The Writer, Vernon Wade

Vernon Wade is a poet, author and freelancer. He has been published in The Gorge Literary Journal, Dualsport Rider Magazine, Hack’d Magazine, The Sidecarist, ROB Magazine and The Hood River News.

The world fills him with wonder.  When he looks at the sky he is lifted into flights of fancy, when he stares at the earth he is drawn beneath its surface. He is delighted to find the macrocosm and the microcosm equally mesmerizing.

5/29/26 5:00 55F (12.7C) Blustery, cloudy and wet.

Last night sundown turned an eerie shade of dirty yellow, the wind started to blow and the sky cracked open. Thunder and lightning exploded directly overhead and the rain came down in buckets.

Dusk surrendered immediately to the black of night, ripped and shredded by arcs and streaks of blinding white light.

We lost power twice. The lights came back on around  10:30, just after we had gone to bed.

This morning is calmer. Water leaks from the clouds and gusts shake drips from the trees.

Birds sing in the shadowy dull gray of dawn.

Good morning.
