The world fills him with wonder. When he looks at the sky he is lifted into flights of fancy, when he stares at the earth he is drawn beneath its surface. He is delighted to find the macrocosm and the microcosm equally mesmerizing.

To the east, a yellow tinge betrays the sun clawing its way over the ridge. The moon, waning gibbous, has just dropped behind Willow Flat.
Crows argue contentiously, but the other birds ignore them, continuing to sing and chatter, cheerfully bidding each other good morning.
