The world fills him with wonder. When he looks at the sky he is lifted into flights of fancy, when he stares at the earth he is drawn beneath its surface. He is delighted to find the macrocosm and the microcosm equally mesmerizing.

Walter is still limping. The vet thinks he has arthritis in his elbows.

I need to check on mom this morning – she had a hip replaced yesterday. I saw her after surgery and she was doing well. They fed her lunch after 24 hours NPO, so conversation was necessarily kept to a minimum but she did say it hurt less.

I have finished my tea. Looking up I watch birds wheel across the marbled sky.
