Good Morning

The Writer, Vernon Wade

Vernon Wade is a poet, author and freelancer. He has been published in The Gorge Literary Journal, Dualsport Rider Magazine, Hack’d Magazine, The Sidecarist, ROB Magazine and The Hood River News.

The world fills him with wonder.  When he looks at the sky he is lifted into flights of fancy, when he stares at the earth he is drawn beneath its surface. He is delighted to find the macrocosm and the microcosm equally mesmerizing.

7/6/26 6:00 54F (12.2C) A thin gauze of clouds stretches across the pale blue sky.

The waning moon keeps a jaybird company at the top of the birch.

We set the timer up on our sprinklers yesterday and this morning was the test.

After a brief struggle to get the Rainbird in the backyard aimed correctly, it seems to be working. The pulsing staccato of water from the nozzle is like a metronome, lending a frantic rhythm to my morning  soak.

I am not sure I like it, but the mint, the clover, and the corn probably do.
