The Writer, Vernon Wade

Vernon Wade is a poet, author and freelancer. He has been published in The Gorge Literary Journal, Dualsport Rider Magazine, Hack’d Magazine, The Sidecarist, ROB Magazine and The Hood River News.

The world fills him with wonder. When he looks at the sky he is lifted into flights of fancy, when he stares at the earth he is drawn beneath its surface. He is delighted to find the macrocosm and the microcosm equally mesmerizing.

7/26/26 6;00 Blue sky with some clouds low in the southeast.

It is comfortably cool as I sit here drinking water, but not so much so as to raise a chill. I shall make some tea in a moment.

Jason is still sleeping. He arrived at the trailhead yesterday just as I was setting off with my first load, having finished clearing the deadfall from our path.

Jason calculates I hauled more than five miles all told and he a little more than four.

We had a pleasant evening once we got camp set up. J made hot dogs and beans for dinner which we followed (and preceded) with a few cocktails.
