Good Morning

The Writer, Vernon Wade

Vernon Wade is a poet, author and freelancer. He has been published in The Gorge Literary Journal, Dualsport Rider Magazine, Hack’d Magazine, The Sidecarist, ROB Magazine and The Hood River News.

The world fills him with wonder.  When he looks at the sky he is lifted into flights of fancy, when he stares at the earth he is drawn beneath its surface. He is delighted to find the macrocosm and the microcosm equally mesmerizing.

8/4/26 6:30 50F (10C)  A windless, smokey morning. The air quality index is 160. It is abrasive to the throat and eyes.

The Grasshopper fire is approaching 35,000 acres and is 17% contained. It has not gotten any closer.

Smoke has settled in the canyon. The sky is a dirty pink, shading into pastel  blue where the haze is thin. The moon waning gibbous is callously aloof; it does not share our atmospheric concerns.

Good morning.
