Dark and windless. Quiet.
The waxing quarter moon set about eight hours ago, leaving the sky a black backdrop for a myriad of glimmering stars.
Something moving south to north dragging a faintly luminescent tail scattered stardust in its wake far above me.
A dog up the canyon barked a warning. Walter leapt to his feet and ran to the fence, taking up the alarm.
Barking echoed along Thomson and down Neal Creek, as the sentries passed the alert on.
Satisfied the threat was dealt with, Walter returned to his post on the deck, maintaining his silent vigil.
Safe in my repose, I finish my tea.
Good morning.
