Vernon Wade is a poet, author and freelancer. He has been published in The Gorge Literary Journal, Dualsport Rider Magazine, Hack’d Magazine, The Sidecarist, ROB Magazine and The Hood River News.

The world fills him with wonder. When he looks at the sky he is lifted into flights of fancy, when he stares at the earth he is drawn beneath its surface. He is delighted to find the macrocosm and the microcosm equally mesmerizing.

Pink clouds dot the blue morning sky. No wind stirs the trees.

The thermometer reads 36F but it feels colder.

There has been activity at the vacation farm/distillery across the street. The absentee landlord from Seattle showed up the other day with a horde of guests. Walter continues to be vocal with his disapproval.

It sounds like there may be some geese congregating behind the hill.

A small bird flits by, then another pair, flying side by side on a steady course, as if on a mission.

A crow calls, its waking voice a rusty croak.

I have finished my tea.
