5/25/25 9:30 56f (13.3c) Cloudy. We went to The Outlaw Concert in Ridgefield yesterday. The bands were all good.
Bob Dylan stuck to songs which matched his range, a sign of his maturity as a performer.
The fire-lane became an impromptu dance floor. Security and the Sheriff’s Department formed a phalanx and marched the length of the lane to clear it but festive music lovers filtered right back in behind them. After about three passes, security gave it up as futile.
Billy Strings and Willie Nelson were amazing. Willie’s set ended with several numbers which were both defiant and poignant. If you get a chance, listen to him singing Last Leaf on the Tree.
Getting out of the parking lot was a cluster fuck. We spent the night at the OYO motor lodge in Woodland. You get a key and a bed, after that you are On Your Own.
Breakfast at Rosie’s was palatable if you ignored the grungy dishes and general filth.
All in all, it was a good trip. The accommodations and food met our needs if not our expectations, but the concert made it all worth while.
