Last Mother’s day Mom went up to Disappearing Lake with me.

The dogwoods were in bloom, the white flowers floating bright against the dark green conifers.

We detoured through The Big Lava Bed, marveling at the tall trees clawing a living out of the barren rock.

When we reached Disappearing Lake Mom and Walter were ready for adventure!

Mom made sandwiches and cookies. We had a picnic on the banks of South Prairie Lake.

I made some Hotchocolate on the camp stove and floated a Peppermint Peep in the mug. I said, “Mom, I could tart that up for you with just a splash of rum, if you’d like….”
“”That sounds lovely,” was her reply.

I had a wonderful time spending the day in the woods with my mother. Happy Mom’s Day!
