Happy Mom’s Day

The Adventurer, Vernon Wade

Vernon was born in the Pacific Northwest and still lives in the shadow of Mt. Hood, near the small town where he grew up. Vernon has spent decades wandering the hills, hunting mushrooms, camping and riding motorcycles into the remotest nooks and crannies to be found in the region.

We detoured through The Big Lava Bed, marveling at the tall trees clawing a living out of the barren rock.

Mom at the lake

When we reached Disappearing Lake Mom and Walter were ready for adventure!

We sat by South Prairie Lake and enjoyed the picnic lunch mom made.

Mom made sandwiches and cookies. We had a picnic on the banks of South Prairie Lake.

Peep in a puddle

I made some Hotchocolate on the camp stove and floated a Peppermint Peep in the mug. I said, “Mom, I could tart that up for you with just a splash of rum, if you’d like….”
“”That sounds lovely,” was her reply.
