Vernon was born in the Pacific Northwest and still lives in the shadow of Mt. Hood, near the small town where he grew up. Vernon has spent decades wandering the hills, hunting mushrooms, camping and riding motorcycles into the remotest nooks and crannies to be found in the region.
Good morning Saturday. Hot tea and a sunrise soak at Bunny Hump Ranch. As the sun climbs the ridge behind me, a line of brilliance falls across the trees and tipi in front of me.
I can actually see the band of light moving down the trees.
Looking east, the sun has yet to crest the ridge.
