I’ve used solar camp showers and never been happy with trying to wash myself under the dribble of tepid water they provide. The water doesn’t get hot enough, there isn’t enough of it and there isn’t enough pressure for a satisfying shower experience. The Zodi propane fired camp shower addresses those issues and provides truly luxurious personal hygiene in camp.
Designed like an old fashioned backpack sprayer, it has a 3 gallon stainless steel tank on a stand with a propane burner underneath and a hand pump that dogs into the top. A plastic tube and showerhead controlled by a lever at the tank provides a pressurized spray of hot water.

I stretched an old tipi liner around some poles and set up the Zodi shower. I used a burlap bag for a shower mat.

There is a liquid crystal thermometer on the side of the tank. When the water reaches the desired temperature, turn off the burner.

Insert the pump into the tank and dog it down. It will probably take a dozen strokes to pressurize the tank.

The lever at the top of the tank turns on the water. Be careful not to scald yourself – the water can get really hot!
