Good Morning

The Writer, Vernon Wade

Vernon Wade is a poet, author and freelancer. He has been published in The Gorge Literary Journal, Dualsport Rider Magazine, Hack’d Magazine, The Sidecarist, ROB Magazine and The Hood River News.

The world fills him with wonder.  When he looks at the sky he is lifted into flights of fancy, when he stares at the earth he is drawn beneath its surface. He is delighted to find the macrocosm and the microcosm equally mesmerizing.

8/1/26 6:30 61F (16C) Calm, partly cloudy.

The moon has set, the sun is still below the ridge.

The Grasshopper fire has grown to above 26,000 acres with zero containment reported. It’s probably 15 miles south of here.

I haven’t seen  any activity, maybe they are just letting it burn. There are several  canyons between us and the wind is blowing it away from here, but Camp Baldwin is threatened.

On a lighter note, a rabbit kindled 8 live kits yesterday. It was 90F (32C) under the hutch, but it looked like everybody was tolerating the heat okay. We did lose one kit overnight,  but the remaining seven  appear to be doing well .
