1/17/26 7:30 37F (2.7C) Cool, clear and beautiful.
It was 69F when we got here yesterday. Partied late, just got up. Fishing fleet was out all last night, still out this morning. Walter seems to be enjoying himself.
I got up about an hour ago. It was still dark and 37F (2.7C). Amy’s sleeping so Walter and I took a short walk on the beach.
Fishing boats dot the horizon, deck lights glowing through the morning sea haze.
It is a short steep hike back to the Ester Lee. We have room #227 in the main hotel up by highway.
It looks like there have been at least two separate additions to the original motel, newer buildings, sprawling down the hill.
The original motel shows evidence of previous remodels but is long overdue for another.
Amy’s sisters and Linda Floyd each have rooms in the newer units which were not built to the same standard as the original and have surpassed its dilapidation. Their windows are dirty and fogged spoiling the view. The shower handle came off in Lynne’s hand, rendering it useless.
Our room is clean and the view is splendid. Although the deadbolt on the door was torn off and not replaced and the door was obviously jimmied and there is no tile behind the toilet and the bathroom light switch is actually in the shower, Amy and I are happy with our accommodations. We find them dated but quaint and as comfortable as an old shoe. I doubt we’d find a consensus with the rest of our party.
It is getting light now in pastel shades of blue and gray run through with bands of lavender and pink.
My tea is ready.
Good morning.
