Good Morning

The Writer, Vernon Wade

Vernon Wade is a poet, author and freelancer. He has been published in The Gorge Literary Journal, Dualsport Rider Magazine, Hack’d Magazine, The Sidecarist, ROB Magazine and The Hood River News.

The world fills him with wonder.  When he looks at the sky he is lifted into flights of fancy, when he stares at the earth he is drawn beneath its surface. He is delighted to find the macrocosm and the microcosm equally mesmerizing.

6/21/26 6:00 52F (11.11C)    Summer Solstice.  Faint breeze, blue sky stippled with thin clouds.

Cherry cannons boom, the birds ignore them.

Walter Dawg barks.  I endeavor to ignore him.

It continues warm and dry in Odell but some drizzle is expected at the other end of the week.

Interesting weather patterns. Oregon has record low snow pack and the Governor proclaimed a statewide fire risk emergency starting a couple of weeks ago. Yet the immediate weather pattern seems more like what I remember from years ago: hot dry spells, broken up by squalls, summer showers and the occasional rain storm.

The Barlow Trail Long Rifles rendezvous is scheduled for Thursday through Sunday.  I  had prepared for a hot, dry weekend,  but current forecasts call for drizzle and cool temps the entire event.

Unless things change, which they seem to do daily.

I guess I need to revise my gear list.

Or not.

Good morning.
